NATIONAL WINDOW COVERING SAFETY MONTH
National Window Covering Safety Month is an annual designation observed in October. Sometimes, things we would never even think about pose a big threat to our children. The month of October is a good reminder to make sure items in our home are child friendly.

Believe it or not, about 1 child dies every month because of strangulation by a window cord. Keeping kids safe is the most important thing to all parents, and sometimes a threat isn't very obvious. But think about it for a minute, then read on.

If your baby is crawling on the floor and stumbles upon a dangling cord, it's easy for that cord to accidentally get wrapped around their neck. The loose cord is a big threat because babies are not equipped to remove the cord.
Putting your child's crib up against a wall with a window shade can be dangerous, too. If there is a shade cord dangling into a space, it's likely an infant can reach it. The bottom line is, children and window cover cords don't mix.
