From the amateur to the master gardener, celebrations, workshops and educational events swing into high gear during National Gardening Week. Gardens provide fresh fruits and vegetables, beautify neighborhoods and communities and provide social and physical activities throughout the year.
As many gardeners know, the benefits of gardening come from more than the produce. Spending time in the garden also provides physical activity and an opportunity to join with nature.
Gardening on its own is therapeutic and can be good for your mental health. The fresh air and sunshine both allow you to get Vitamin D is naturally. Vitamin D is essential for absorbing and retaining adequate amounts of calcium and phosphorous, which are good for the bones. In addition, fresh air is rich in oxygen and a great way to circulate the oxygen your blood. Fresh air will clean your lungs, strengthen your immune system, aid in digestion, and increase your energy. Spending time outdoors helps you sleep better and makes you feel happy!
