We are on mission to encourage everyone to try a true-to-fruit-soft serve because today is National Dole Whip® Day! Each year on the third Thursday in July, we share our love for the fruity-licious flavor it brings to people around the world.

The frozen dairy-free treat Dole Whip® has been around since 1984. In fact, the original Dole Whip® consisted of a float of whip in a glass of pineapple juice, topped with a maraschino cherry. This frozen fruitiness was first introduced at Disneyland in 1986 and has been a favorite since. We think National Dole Whip® Day is the perfect day to enjoy a creamy soft-serve cup of fruitopia.
Deliciously Dole Whip®
The Dole Whip® has had many transformations over the years. The original pineapple flavor is still the most popular, but eight additional fruit flavors are now available.

Just like Dole Whip®, National Dole Whip® Day is going to become a cultural phenomenon. Since the dessert has been featured in merchandise, food items, and even in Disney-themed weddings, we predict National Dole Whip® Day gaining more than just hashtag supporters. We predict this National Day will create a cult-like following, with millions of photos on social media being shared by Dole Whip® fans.
East vs. West
The best way to celebrate National Dole Whip® Day is for Disneyland and Disney World to have a Dole-off contest. We recommend visitors from each location to post pictures on social media, using the hashtag #NationalDoleWhipDay and #DoleWhipEast or #DoleWhipWest. Show the world who owns the title for 2023!
REFRESHING HISTORY
In 2023, Dole Whip® Pineapple is celebrating their 40th anniversary in the marketplace. This was why National Day Calendar and Dole Packaged Foods began a working relationship to bring National Dole Whip® Day to reality. The collaboration brings you a refreshing new food day to be celebrated each year on the third Thursday in July. However, we recommend adding this to your itinerary when visiting any of the Disney locations the treat is served.
In 1983, Dole Packaged Foods launched DOLE Whip® to the market, a soft serve dessert made with sweet, refreshing pineapple flavoring. The product came to fruition after years of R&D work, support from supplier partners, and lots of taste testing in the kitchen. Dole Packaged Foods’s focus was to create a true-to-fruit soft serve product using delicious fruit flavors and colors. In 1984 at the National Restaurant Association Show, Dole Packaged Foods exhibited “DOLE Whip” to the masses – the rest was history.
