NATIONAL CLIMB A MOUNTAIN DAY
Today is July 30 on the National Day Calendar and National Climb A Mountain Day, which means this is your day to get up, show up, and move past obstacles in your life by moving personal mountains.
#CLIMBAMOUNTAINDAY
Climbing a mountain takes training, perseverance, and dedication. The most experienced mountain climber will tell you there is always a fear of failure. However, that fear is what keeps them driven to reach the peak of the mountain. They know once they reach the top, the feeling of accomplishment and pride will remind them they can do anything as long as they commit.
On National Climb a Mountain Day, we are encouraging everyone to overcome the fears that prevent us from reaching our peak. Commit yourself to accomplishing your goals no matter how high the mountain seems right now. We guarantee with a little perseverance and dedication, you can climb any mountain. We know you can!
National Climb A Mountain Day is a metaphor about life. Many of us see obstacles in our life that block the things we wish for. We develop a fear of failure, what ifs, and rejection. Whether its travel, a personal goal, buying an extravagant gift for yourself, or starting a new business, obstacles always prevent us from even trying. Today is your reminder to start your journey up your mountain by realizing anything is possible if you put the effort in.
Embracing Fear & Failure
Fear is the number one reason people become discouraged in life. Fear of rejection. Fear of failure. Fear of unsupportive family, friends, and peers. As a society, we have become so used to thinking of all the wrong things, we seldom think of the good things. We have generated the idea in our brains that fear and failure are bad things. Unfortunately, fear is what stops us from being our best selves. It's time to start climbing your mountain and stop letting fear and failure control you.
What if you embrace fear and failure? Yes, embrace it. Embrace the fear of failing by realizing these feelings are a normal part of any path in life. Use your experiences of fear and failure as you climb your mountain and apply what you learn along the way. Just as a mountain climber has to train to overcome their fear, we need to train ourselves into believing we can accomplish climbing our personal mountains. It may take a day, a year, or a decade, but you can do it. It doesn't matter how you get there, as long as you get there.
5 NATIONAL CLIMB A MOUNTAIN DAY CELEBRATIONS
Accept fear and failure as a normal part of your emotions. Use fear and failure as learning tools to correct mistakes and make adjustments as you progress.
Approach your mountain climbing with positivity. Even though you might struggle on your path up the mountain, each step is a step closer to your goal. Use each step as a stepping stone to become better.
Be brave and courageous during your journey. Face any fear or failure you might encounter with the mindset of getting through it. Because you will.
Make adjustments. We do not get a handbook in life. Climbing mountains means we make necessary adjustments and change courses if something isn't working. Don't be afraid to change.
Visualize your success each step of the way. Think about how you will feel once you reach the top of your mountain. By taking in the scenery along the way, you will appreciate the view from the top.

HISTORY BEHIND NATIONAL CLIMB A MOUNTAIN DAY
National Day Calendar staff rarely get an opportunity to contribute to creating a new National Day. However, in 2023, we decided to allow staff to submit ideas to our growing list of calendar content. National Climb A Mountain Day was submitted by Chris, our video/radio/audio/social media events expert.
Chris appreciates life and is always determined to tackle any obstacle, whether it be at work or in his personal life. National Climb A Mountain Day is Chris's way of encouraging everyone to keep trying and be optimistic every day.
